The first image is the one I used on my cover, the second is a similar image taken for Rock Sound magazine. They are both medium close up subjective shots. This means that the artist is gazing directly at the viewer which encourages you to want to buy the magazine. Both artists look quite serious which suggests they are serious about their music and don't want to follow conventions of cover images with their cheesy grins. My artist looks slightly more amused which fits in with the less serious tone of my magazine and the audience it is appealing to.
